Rising Stars: Leo Wood

24 07 2025

British up-and-coming boxer Leo Wood, who's the grandson of Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood, is fast becoming a star in the boxing world, after being introduced to the sport by former boxer Prince Naseem Hamed's brother, Murad, when he was only 10.

He later shot to fame after he won the under-57 kg weight class at the prestigious England Boxing National Amateur Championships in 2024. Now 20 years old, Wood has been selected to represent Team GB Boxing and is being courted by some of the world’s biggest boxing promoters, including Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing, the sporting event promotions company behind former heavyweight world champion Anthony Joshua. He's now a four-time National Champion and has his sights set on the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
